Improve Your Kitchen in Three Simple Steps

The kitchen and the bathroom are the two rooms that often need the most remodeling but see the least renovation out of the entire house. People enjoy purchasing new sheets for their beds, new curtains, and additional recliners for the living rooms. As long as the bathroom has a functioning toilet and shower and the kitchen has a refrigerator and a microwave, what else do you need? However, if you plan to resell your home sometime in the near future or simply feel that things are starting to look a little shabby, then you need to focus on these two areas first. You will be amazed by how a few simple changes can revolutionize the look of your whole home!

In order to improve your kitchen, it is not necessary to tear everything down and rebuild. Just follow these three simple steps and you will have a kitchen that looks brand new!

1) Repaint your cabinet doors. Your kitchen cabinets islands have seen quite a bit of abuse over the years! Greasy fingers are constantly opening and closing them, pots and pans bang into them often, and they never are wiped down. They certainly have earned a new coat of paint! It is very easy to remove the cabinet doors and take them out to the garage to be varnished and then painted. Your kitchen will look substantially better the second you put those doors back on!

2) Install a kitchen island. This piece of kitchen furniture is extremely popular in remodeled kitchens today. It provides you with a large counter space (perfect for dinner preparation) and extra storage space.  Many people also decide to make this counter an additional dining space. All you need to add is a few kitchen barstools and people will love to use the island for quick breakfasts and after-school snacks.

3) Redo your kitchen flooring. If your current floor is linoleum or a material that you do not even know the name of, it is definitely time to change it. The trend today is to put large (at least one foot by one foot) tiles in that are a neutral color, such as tan or off-white. Large tiles make a smaller space look bigger so your kitchen feels more spacious!

Your kitchen will look amazing once you install your kitchen island and repaint those cabinet doors. Enjoy your new kitchen space!
